Happy New Year, and welcome to 2026! An especially warm welcome to all the brides and grooms getting married this year — I hope the excitement is really starting to set in now as your big day gets closer.
I’ve been lucky enough to receive a number of enquiries for wedding day photography in the first few days of 2026, and I’m truly grateful to everyone who has reached out already. With so many couples beginning to finalise their plans, I wanted to put together a quick FAQ-style post to answer some of the questions I’m most commonly asked.
If you’re currently researching photographers or thinking about getting in touch, I hope this helps!
Frequently Asked Questions About My Wedding Photography
❓ What style of wedding photography do you offer?
My approach is relaxed, natural, and documentary-led. I focus on capturing genuine moments; the smiles, the laughter, the happy tears, and all the little in-between details that tell the real story of your day.
Of course, we’ll also take time for a relaxed portraits and group photos, but I aim to keep things fun, stress-free, and as natural as possible. It's important that you spend time enjoying your day and not just taking photos.
❓ Where are you based, and do you travel?
I’m based in South Derbyshire and I’m happy to cover weddings across the Midlands and surrounding areas.
I don’t have a fixed mileage formula because travel costs depend on:
the scope of the package you book
how far I need to travel
and how early in the day I need to arrive
Any additional travel is charged at a fair mileage rate, and we’ll discuss everything clearly before you book. For weddings that are a considerable distance away, we may also agree on the cost of overnight accommodation in advance — this will always be confirmed before the contract is signed.
❓ Do you work abroad?
Yes — I’m more than happy to photograph destination and international weddings, subject to availability.
We’ll discuss travel and accommodation costs, any extended or late-evening coverage and how this may affect the final price. I always aim to keep costs reasonable and transparent, and everything will be talked through in detail before we agree to go ahead.
❓ Do you offer a second shooter?
Yes, my wife often joins me as a second photographer, subject to availability.
Having a second shooter means:
more coverage of your day
more candid moments captured
and different angles of key moments
For example, while I’m photographing the bride walking down the aisle, she may be capturing the groom’s/bride's reaction at the front.
I recommend a second shooter for larger weddings, but I’ll never insist on it — it’s completely your choice.
❓ Do you offer drone photography?
Yes — I have a drone and can offer aerial photography and simple videography as an add-on for £100 (subject to venue permission, weather, and local regulations).
❓ Do you offer engagement shoots?
Yes — I’m very happy to offer engagement or pre-wedding shoots ahead of your big day.
These sessions are a great opportunity to:
grab a coffee and a chat about your plans
help you feel comfortable in front of the camera
explore your style, personality, and preferences
create photos for your wedding stationery, website, or save-the-dates
❓ What wedding photography packages do you offer?
I offer a small range of simple, flexible packages based on the number of hours of coverage — from shorter celebrations through to full-day photography. You can see the full details of my packages here.
We can also discuss extra hours or add-ons if you need them, and I’m always happy to help you choose the option that best fits your plans.
❓ Are you willing to be flexible with packages?
On the whole, yes. My packages are designed to give you great value for your investment while making the most of my time on the day. If you’re looking for something in between packages or slightly different, just let me know — I’m always happy to chat and see what we can work out.
❓ We’re trying to stick to a budget — can you help?
Absolutely. I fully understand the stress of planning a wedding on a budget.
My prices are already very reasonable for the level of service I provide, but if you’d like to make some adjustments to your package to help it meet your budget, I’m always willing to have that conversation — my aim is to support couples wherever I can.
❓ Do we need to pay a deposit?
Yes — I ask for a deposit to secure your date, with the remaining balance due four weeks before the wedding.
❓ When will we receive our photos?
You’ll receive 5–10 preview images within 48 hours of your wedding (I usually aim to send these by the following lunchtime where possible, depending on travel and other bookings). Your full gallery will be delivered within up to 4 weeks — often sooner. If there’s ever likely to be a delay, I’ll always let you know as soon as possible.
❓ How many photos will we receive?
This depends on your package and the flow of your day, but as a guide I typically deliver around 50 photos per hour of coverage.
This may vary slightly depending on how many group photos you’d like, the balance of candid vs portrait photography and the pace of your timeline. My priority is always to give you a meaningful, story-driven collection of images rather than a fixed number.
❓ Can we send you inspiration photos or specific shots we’d like?
I’m always happy to see your inspiration images or Pinterest ideas. They’re a great way for me to understand what you love in terms of style, moments, and mood.
While I can’t promise to perfectly replicate another photographer’s work, I’ll always do my best to capture the spirit of what you like and make time for those Pinterest-perfect moments in a way that still feels natural and true to your day.
❓ Can we request lots of group photos?
Of course — I don’t place a limit on group photos. If there are people who are important to you, I’ll always make sure we capture them. Just keep in mind that the more group shots we organise, the more time we’ll spend gathering guests — which can take time away from candid photography. We’ll work together beforehand to create a sensible shot list that keeps things running smoothly.
