An Update for Sam Crathorne Photography

In the summer of 2025, my wife and I sat down and had the conversation — the one where you admit a dream out loud and decide whether you’re brave enough to back it.

Photography had been part of my life for over ten years. I loved it deeply, but I never felt I had the capacity, the money, or the confidence to take the leap. Life was busy, responsibilities came first, and photography stayed safely in the background as something I enjoyed, rather than something I believed could become more.

Last summer, we decided to take a huge gamble. We spent our savings on high-quality equipment with a clear and honest promise to each other: if I didn’t pay it back within a year, I’d know this dream wasn’t meant for me. I would sell the equipment and continue my work as a care worker — a job I value, but one that never quite filled the creative space I knew I had.

For the next six months, I offered free shoots to local artists, small businesses, and couples. The goal wasn’t instant success — it was experience, growth, and learning how to serve people well through photography. The plan was simple: work hard in 2025, build trust, and begin paid work in 2026.

What I didn’t expect was the response.

Over the last few months, I’ve been completely overwhelmed by the encouragement and support I’ve received. Word spread faster than I could have imagined, and my diary began filling up — first with events, then with weddings. As I write this, bookings are already confirmed for 2026 and 2027, with a couple even booked for 2028. That kind of belief from people is humbling beyond words.

This January, for my 25th birthday, my wife surprised me with something incredibly special: a professionally designed logo created by local graphic designer Fuse4. It marked a turning point. Seeing Sam Crathorne Photography presented with care and intention made it feel real in a new way; like the beginning of something built to last.

As we step into 2026, this rebrand represents more than a new look. It means that I am fully invested and ready to go.

To everyone who has supported, booked, shared, encouraged, or simply believed in me — thank you.
